Stratford, located in northeast Garvin County, was founded in 1906. Peach orchards dotted the area, but it wasnít until the 1950s that commercial peach orchards were planted. Stratford produces over 900 acres of the fruit today.

Also, Located only 20 miles to the South in Sulphur is Chickasaw National Recreational Park which encompass the Lake of the Arbuckles. The area includes mineral springs, wildlife, boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, and camping.
